  OBITUARY

MRS. HENRIETTA ADELAIDE BETTS

AFTER an illness of a few days' duration, the death took place on Friday morning last of Mrs. Henrietta Adelaide Betts, wife of Mr. O.M. Betts, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, Windsor, at the age of 58 years. About a week before her demise, Mrs. Betts was stricken down with a severe attack of influenza, which turned to pneumonia, from which she succumbed. The late Mrs. Betts was a native of Penola, South Australia, and was married at Summer Hill about 30 years ago. A few months ago she came to Windsor from Adelong with her husband, who was appointed to the Bank of New South Wales here on the retirement of Mr. R.A. Nevile. By her kindly and generous nature she soon made many friends in the town, and although it was known that her health was not of the strongest her sudden passing came as a shock to the community. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, and was attended by a large and representative gathering, the remains being laid to rest in St. Matthew's Church of England cemetery. Rev. J.F.G. Huthnance (a friend of the deceased) came from Waverley to perform the last sad rites, and was assisted by the Rev. Norman Jenkyn, R.D. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. Chandler. We extend sympathy to the bereaved husband.

Wedding.

POLLARD—BONES

A VERY pretty wedding was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Port Macquarie, on Saturday, May 18th, when Mr H. Pollard, youngest son of the late Mr. H. Pollard, of Sydney, was united in matrimony to Miss Maud Bones, daughter of Mr. G. Bones, of Blackman's Point. The Rev. L.J. Wilson was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. R.A. Bones, wore a dress of ivory crystaline, trimmed with lace and insertion. She wore the orthodox wreath and veil, and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair ferns. Miss Lily Bones acted as bridesmaid, and was attired in a pale pink silk crepe, with hat to match. Mr. E. McIntyre acted as best man. As the bridal party entered the church, which was artistically decorated by friends of the bride, the choir sang the Wedding Hymn. A large number of friends had gathered to witness the ceremony, at the close of which the Wedding March was played by Mrs. Wilson. The party then adjourned to Mr. J. Hayward's banquet room, where a sumptuous breakfast was partaken of, and the usual toasts proposed and honoured. The wedding cake, a fine three-decker, made by Mr. J. Hayward, was also cut. The happy couple left by the Macquarie for Sydney, en route for the Blue Mountains, where the honeymoon is being spent. Mr. and Mrs. Pollard were the recipients of many handsome and useful presents. We join in congratulating them, and hope they will have many years of wedded bliss.
