testimonial in advert for Godbold's Vegetable Balsam: The following letter to Mr. Godbold, from a gentleman in the country, deserves particular attention, and the original, with a great many others, may be seen at his house: "My Friend, I do not remember whether I ever informed thee that my wife, before she knew of thy Vegetable Balsam, had the advice of several of the best physicians this country affords, and had attended Bath, Bristol, and Matlock, all which afforded her little or no relief; her disorder continued to gain ground upon her, and her doctors seemed at a loss what further to do. She therefore resolved to try thy medicine, and hath taken it for some time, and now enjoys the best state of health she has had for many years. It hath, during the time of her taking it, dissolved and brought away many abscesses and ulcers, which we believe were out of the reach of any other medicine. Since she hath experienced its good effects we have recommended it to several, particularly to a physician's son, acknowledged by his father to be in the last stage of a deep consumption, and out of his power to do more for him. By taking thy medicine he was, in the first week, so far recovered as to be out of danger, and by continuing it a few weeks was entirely cured and sent to school perfectly well. "A woman that had been afflicted with an asthma 30 years, so that she was not able to lay down in her bed, attended with a violent head-ach, was, in a short time, so far relieved by thy medicine as to enjoy life comfortably, and entirely cured of the head-ach, and she and her husband say she could not have lived over last winter but for thy medicine. And several others, that I cannot now particularly describe, have been cured by thy medicine, that were believed to be out of the reach of all others. I am respectfully thy Friend. HENRY RICHARDSON. I have no recollection of having ever seen my uncle Aaron; but in the year 1826, Dr. Dixon's wife, of Worcester, told my daughter, Rachel Pumphrey, that she knew my uncle Aaron well. He was one of her father's most intimate friends, who, she said, considered his intimacy with my uncle as one of his greatest blessings. She gave him an excellent character. |
