In her retirement, she moved to Cape Cod and made a home with her companion, Margaret Shrader, with whom she spent 20 years raising Kerry blue terriers and participating in a cottage industry making shell ornaments. In 1993, Miss Binns moved to Williamsburg, thence to Yorktown. She spent the final four years of her life as a resident at Regency Health Care Center. In addition to her companion, she is survived by her niece, Mrs. Andrew Pickens Johnson of Wayland, Mass.
